My collection of BBC radio dramatisations of the science fiction and horror stories of Ray Bradbury. Most of these are unreleased commercially and all were sourced from BBC Sounds.
I’ve listed them in original broadcast order. The first two stories, from 1968 and 1977 both have okay sound quality for vintage radio sci-fi and are surprisingly both in stereo. The BBC were still using mono for some productions as late as the mid 1980s.
1968 - ‘Leviathan ‘99′ 2099. Ships sail toward the stars instead of under them. One is led to its destruction…
1977 - ‘August 2026꞉ There Will Come Soft Rains’ One day in the life of a house, during which ghosts of its previous occupants are gradually revealed.
1982 - ‘Fahrenheit 451′ Firefighters in the future no longer stop fires, but start them by burning books. But one has forbidden doubts.
1991 - ‘Kaleidoscope’ The crew aboard space ship ‘Venturer’ blast off from Cape Canaveral, but disaster awaits them in deep space along with some hard decisions
1991 - ‘The Golden Apples of the Sun’ Collection of 8 short stories by Ray Bradbury.
1995 - ‘Tales of the Bizarre: Series 1 & 2′ 12 strange and chilling tales from the master of thrillers.
2011 - ‘Something Wicked This Way Comes’ Two boys experience evil when a ‘dark circus’ comes to Illinois.
2014 - ‘The Martian Chronicles’ When the first expedition to Mars mysteriously disappears, Earth sends a second to find out what happened. But the real mission is classified. And only Captain Wilder knows the truth.
2017 - ‘The Illustrated Man’ A vagrant claims that his tattoos come to life after dark and tell the future.
