SOME DEBTS ARE PAID IN CASH. OTHERS ARE PAID IN THE MUD.
Gideon Roux is a disgraced former NOPD detective turned cynical insurance investigator who specializes in looking the other way.
But when the brutally tortured body of investigative journalist Elias Landry is pulled from the Louisiana bayous, Gideon is dragged into a conspiracy that threatens to swallow the entire Crescent Coast.
Landry was hunting a ghost—the Iron Magnolia, a 1920s paddlewheeler resting at the bottom of a deep sinkhole in the Atchafalaya Basin.
Buried within its rusted iron vault are 1782 Spanish land grants proving the multi-billion-dollar Broussard corporate empire was built on stolen land and cold-blooded murder.
But the Broussards are not about to let a century-old secret destroy their legacy. Patriarch Augustine Broussard has unleashed a private army of elite mercenaries into the swamp to secure the wreck, extract two hundred million dollars in untraceable gold bullion, and permanently silence anyone who knows the truth.
Framed for murder and hunted by both corrupt police and corporate kill squads, Gideon forms an unlikely alliance with a rogue cyber-crimes detective, an octogenarian matriarch fighting for her bloodright, and a terrifying, silent tracker who rules the deep swamp.
As a devastating tropical squall descends upon the coast, the ultimate battle for Louisiana’s soul moves from the glittering corporate towers of New Orleans into the suffocating, black water of the deep basin. To expose the empire, Gideon must survive the very mud the Broussards use to bury their sins.
In Blackwater Requiem, the truth doesn’t just float to the surface—it fights back.
