Xuan-Yuan Sword VII is an action role-playing game set against the rich backdrop of ancient China during the turbulent final years of the Western Han Dynasty. Players step into the shoes of Taishi Zhao, a composed and dependable swordsman whose life is shattered when a mysterious fire destroys his family and a prophetic bamboo scroll vanishes. As chaos and war engulf the land over the following decade, Taishi Zhao embarks on a quest to uncover the truth behind these ominous events and the reemergence of the lost scroll that stirs unrest across the realm. The story weaves together historical events and Chinese mythology, immersing players in a world where political upheaval and ancient secrets collide. Gameplay in Xuan-Yuan Sword VII revolves around a dynamic, combo-based combat system viewed from a third-person perspective. Players engage in fluid real-time battles, utilizing a range of skills including dodging, blocking, and counterattacking. Central to the game’s mechanics is the Elysium Scroll, a mystical bamboo slip that acts as a key to a mysterious dimension called Elysium. This allows players to absorb monsters, craft new creatures, and refine passive abilities that enhance Taishi Zhao’s combat prowess. The game also features facilities within Elysium for upgrading weapons and armor, adding layers of progression and customization. Drawing inspiration from the ancient Mohist philosophy, known for its emphasis on logic and early scientific thought, the narrative explores themes of innovation and decline as players witness the fate of the Mohist order. With its detailed reconstruction of ancient Chinese environments and Nvidia RTX support for enhanced visuals, Xuan-Yuan Sword VII offers a captivating journey through a legendary oriental realm.
