The game immerses players in the historical rise and fall of the Miyoshi clan, who swiftly gained control over the Kinki and Shikoku regions before their rapid decline within a decade. Through encounters with notable figures like Matsunaga Hisahide, Sogo Kazumasa, and Miyoshi Nagayoshi, the narrative weaves a rich tapestry of intrigue and conflict, inviting players to explore the mysteries behind the clan’s fate. Gameplay blends puzzle-solving with action elements, challenging players to complete missions with limited initial information and multiple approaches. Each level tasks players with a specific objective that can be achieved in one of four distinct styles, known as Nindou—or “ways of the ninja”: the swift and stealthy approach of the Wind, the clue-driven and cautious Forest, the aggressive and direct Fire, or the strategic and non-lethal Mountain path. Players must carefully observe their environment, uncover clues, and decide how best to proceed. A guidance ninja offers hints on various Nindou techniques, but discovering solutions independently rewards players with higher evaluations. This system encourages creativity and experimentation, allowing for diverse strategies and replayability as players navigate the complex world of Sengoku-era Japan.
