To confront this creeping darkness, players must venture back and forth between the real world’s unsettling Mist and the surreal, daemon-infested Otherworld, uncovering secrets and confronting twisted foes along the way. The narrative explores themes of self-identity and inner turmoil as players grapple with the question of how far they are willing to go to protect those they care about—and whether they can keep their own sanity intact. Gameplay centers on summoning and commanding Fiends—supernatural beings powered by the player’s Ego—using a unique tactical system that encourages strategic positioning and skillful deployment in turn-based battles. Players can customize their Fiends’ appearances and abilities, unlocking new forms and powers as they progress. Strengthening the Ego through psychological tests directly enhances the potency of these summoned allies, blending character development with combat mechanics. Along the journey, alliances with fellow students and instructors provide crucial support to confront seven corrupted “Pactbearers” who threaten the academy’s stability.
