Helicopter Gunship D.E.X offers a simulation-focused helicopter combat experience inspired by classic 90s gunship games, blending realism with accessible controls. Players step into the cockpit of various helicopters, from Apaches to Hinds, navigating expansive 40km by 40km terrains such as lush deserts, Norway’s rugged landscapes, and Central Libya. The game emphasizes authentic flight physics and realistic weapon systems, including radar, laser, and SACLOS guidance, while streamlining complex controls to suit both gamepads and advanced HOTAS setups. Whether piloting in first-person or third-person view, players manage both flying and targeting duties, with a co-pilot/gunner assisting in spotting enemies. At the heart of Helicopter Gunship D.E.X lies a robust procedurally generated mission system that keeps engagements fresh and unpredictable. Missions range from strike operations and search-and-destroy tasks to reconnaissance and transportation, all balanced through a deployment point system that ensures tactical variety and relevance for older helicopters and weapons. Different technological eras influence available gear, spanning from pre-1980s low-tech armaments to modern and high-tech weaponry planned for future updates. The game is designed to be approachable for newcomers while offering depth and challenge for simulation enthusiasts, promising rewarding mastery through its detailed flight and combat mechanics.
